June 1st: AB2447 Does not Receive Enough Votes in Assembly for
Passage
On June 1st, Assembly Bill 2447 (giving Judges discretion to give
"great weight" to waive prior strikes if current conviction is nonviolent or
non-serious), authored by Assemblymember Rod Wright failed to receive enough
votes to pass the assembly. The bill needed 41 votes for passage and only
received 24. The results of the vote were as follows:
