On August 15th, FACTS played a big part of the Shadow Convention's day dedicated to the Failure of the War on Drugs. After FACTS state-wide president Geri Silva talked about the 3-strikes law, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins then read some of the 3-strike stories of family members who were in attendance.

There were many other good speakers that day talking about the failure of the war on drugs, including Jesse Jackson, Maxine Waters, Bill Maher, and the Governor of New Mexico.

Later on the same day, outside the Shadow Convention, 71 bike riders were arrested for breaking some minor traffic violations (even though the police escorted them through the red lights). Public Defender Geralyn Busnardo (and FACTS member) helped many of the bikers get their cases dismissed in the following weeks.

On August 16th, FACTS participated in a morning demonstration against the prison industrial complex and in the afternoon against police brutality.
