FACTS, the ACLU, Criminal Justice Consortium, the Catholic Detention Ministries has created a coalition called ACTS - Amend California's Three Strikes. The purpose for the new coalition is for planning, educating the public and to show massive support concerning the Supreme Court case that will be heard on Nov. 5th. ACTS will also be gearing up for Campaign 2004 - putting an initiative on the ballot for 2004. Other groups have joined which include Human Rights Watch, SCLC - So. Cal, UNITY T.W.O, and Congresswoman Maxine Waters' office is represented by Blanca Jimenez. During the month of October there will be many activities planned to highlight the cruel and unusal punishmnet of the Three Strikes law.

Listed below are proposed activities for October in preparation for U.S Supreme Court Hearing in November.

Car-Caravan throughout LA - Oct 5th
The cars will begin in Santa Monica and end in Long Beach Participating: ACLU, FACTS, UNITY 2, Friends Outside

Prison Reform Unity Project (PRUP) Rally -Oct 19th -
National Action at prisons across the country. Proposed theme "Three Strikes: Cruel and Unusual Punishment" - Suggested location - CIW in Frontera Participating: FACTS, ACLU & Inside FACTS Chapters and individual prisoners

Candlelight Inter-Denominational Prayer Vigil - Inside & Out - Oct 26th
Participating: ACLU, FACTS, UNITY 2, Friends Outside, Human Rights Watch, Danza Azteca Cuauhtemoc & Inside FACTS Chapters and individual prisoners - 60 Minutes II will film.

Freeway & street corner bill-boarding - anytime
Participating: Blanca Jimenez (Congresswoman Waters Aide) will organize

Freedom Sundays -
Churches everywhere set aside a Sunday in October to educate their congregations on the law and the US Supreme Court hearing. Bring in Striker family to give a face to the issue. SCLC is responsible for organization

College Campuses & High Schools- Three Strikes Days -
speakers, concerts, teach-ins Blanca will contact Mecha groups, Gail will contact high schools ACLU and HRW will work on their contacts

U.S. Supreme Court - Nov. 5th
- Send a delegation to DC for hearing - Press Conference Thus far 7 people are attending from FACTS - Email targeted Justices

Other Ideas: Motor-cycle Love Run
- Keith Brooks and Mary Cuniff will work on this
