I am writing to make the public aware of how our criminal justice system has allowed
to let a bad sentencing choice make a joke out of our intelligence as human beings. I am a
three striker that received 25 to life for the conviction of possession, ( three cocaine
rocks the size of a pea).
If the person reading this would test the logic of my situation by asking a friend in
their opinion, is twenty-five to life a fair sentence for a useable amount of drugs (three
rocks_), you would also experience views of laughter and shocking disbelief of the
situation for the extent of a sentence that did not include hurting anyone or involve any
serious matter to justify the sentence in relation to the crime convicted of.
To throw away the key on a person with crime of such small size is in fact an insult
to all human intelligence.
Please pass this thought along to Senators that will be voting this year to make all
strikes violent or serious.
Prior letter from Frank:
"I am a prisoner currently incarcerated under the 3-Strikes law. I was convicted
for possession of 1.58 grams of rock cocaine, or 3 rocks. . . . I take the time out now to
thank everyone involved with this effort to put common sense back into the criminal
justice system by challenging the law which gives a shockingly excessive amount of time
for non-violent and non-serious offenses. A 25 to life sentence for a non-violent or
non-serious offence is an insult to human intelligence. . . . And a special thanks to
Senator Barbara Lee."
