3-Strike Story: J. Charnin

I was born in 1971, in Fresno, California

I started using weed at the age of ten and started running with gang’s at the same time. Here is my back ground.4-88 petty theft, 5-89, joy riding, 8-89, H & S, 4-91 petty theft, 10-91, Burglary, 11-91, burglary and attempted first degree burglary, 1-95 one count of burglary, and all burglary were residential. The last burglary I got 30 to life.

I really didn’t have a good life. I ran with gang’s because I felt that was my family. I’ve been shot twice, I’ve never had no home to stay at. My family left me at a very young age. I tried to go to program’s, but it was like if they were out to get e to. Turn me into the police. I was arrested again at the age of 24 and got 30 years to life for one burglary, they said they have a good system, but what about the killers. People who hurt kid’s. They get less time, and those are the sick minded people. There is no system at all, it’s a money thing. The three strike law is a big money scam. They ware house us like animals. Give us numbers, tell us when and where we can eat and shower. But in reality it’s the people with the power getting away with the real crimes.
