3-Strike Story: Dwight Belton

These are two poems that Dwight has written for FACTS.

Come Home Solider That War is Over

One of the saddest things you’ll ever live to see, is a soldier still fighting a war, when there’s no chance of victory. The war may be a political one, or with demons in his own mind, and the soldier continues to do the exact same thing, but different results e expects to find.

He’s been fighting this battle for over 10 long years, and the results are always the same: broke, busted, can barely be trusted, yet he continues to play the game.

Come Home Soldier that Was is Over.....

How much more will you loose to this war, your kids, your home, your wife,

what will it take to get this soldier to retreat, will he have to loose his life.

Sometimes you have to turn and run, to live to fight another day, take your losses, lick your wounds, learn to fight another way.

You’re fighting a battle with the highest evil, so a higher power you must seek,

swallow your pride, ask for some help, make yourself humble and meek.

Come Home Soldier that War is Over.....

Because how can a soldier win a war, on land, in the air, or at sea, unless that soldier can come to terms and identify his true enemy.

The demon you fight is not the drugs, they just happen to be a vice, the demon you fight has so much more power, he even tried to tempt Christ.

God will forgive you, for it is written that " New mercy springs forth each day,"

So you come whipped like the Prodigal Son, but at least you found your way.

Welcome Home Soldier.....

Poem # 2

1-2-3- Strikes You’re Out

Have you heard the saying," It’s Three Strikes You’re out"Well this aint the old Ball Game.

Its a law that’s designed to put away for life, and al you’ll be is a number and a name.

Now this law is here and it’s here to stay, and that happens to be fact not fiction.

They will try to put you away for 25 years to life simply because you have two prior convictions..

Now it doesn’t matter if you committed the other two crimes way back in 1974.

If you get convicted of a felony in 1998, they will lock you up and loose the key in the door....

It’s one-two-three strikes you’re out, and that just the way they will play,

They’re no longer wheeling and dealing in Court, there job is to simply put you away...

Now some times they will make you an offer, but it’s nothing you would call a deal.

Their mission it seems is to search and destroy, and should be called operation over kill...

They will give a man 25 years to life because he stole a radio from a car.

I am not trying to say that crimes should go unpunished, but they are taking it just a little bit too far...

There’s a war on crime, like the war on drugs, but they only seen to target the poor.

They will put you away for life, for having a twenty dollar Rock, while the cartels are selling cocaine galore...

They say they can not touch the heard of these carlets because they have the best of legal defense,

But they must satisfy the publics out cry for law and order, so it’s done at the poor mans expense...

It makes you wonder was there ever a war on drugs, or is that something that politicians say.

Because the bottom line is, there seems to be more and more drugs and the price are even cheeper today..

When they started their so called war on drugs an ounce of cocain would cost you two grand,

Today that same ounce cost you five hundred dollars, it makes you wonder if politicians have dirty hands...

The point I am trying to make is with drugs comes crime, and about this there should never be a doubt.

Now the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer and their solution is to strike a brother out.

So anyone who reads these words, and you want to be more than a number and a name,

Remember it’s one-two-three strikes you’re out in this new Court Room Game....
