3-Strike Stories: Garmache
I am 44 years old and facing 75 years to life for petty theft with a prior. All my
priors are 18 years old or more. For the past 8 years I have been a self-employed
California State licensed General Contractor.
In 1994 I was arrested for shoplifting 3 light dimmer switches. I subsequently latched
out and then skipped bail because they were going to prosecute me as a 3 strike case.
Since 1994. I have lived right here in San Jose and as I refused to engage in criminal
active for money. I continued my business as a licensed General Contractor. On March 19,
1998. I was arrested working on a job. With a 500K dollar warrant for my arrest, they used
15 police officers and a San Jose Police helicopter to arrest me.
I have a long story to sit and write you which may inspire some voters our way. I have
a private attorney hired by several customers which I work for. I also have a
brother-in-law who ran last year for Chief of Police, City of Santa Clara. All are
supporting me and have access to mainstream voters.
We have to put an end to this unfair law. We-society in general had our hearts ripped
out over the little beautiful girl Polly Klass and the evil monster who took her precious
life and then so badly laughed about it in court for everyone to see.
God is caring for Polly now and God will soon deal with the monster who touch her
precious life.
When I first heard of the Three Strikes Law - which was rushed through for passage. I
was all for it, but my god, 75 years to life for petty theft is not the intent of the law,
nor should it be applied retroactive to people who pleaded guilty to a plea bargain some
20 years age. Whit revisions I do believe that the three strikes law would work to
societies benefit, however as applied, its unjust.
I will help, my family will help and my customers will help. God Bless us all. We must
win or our families and children loose.
