3-Strike Story: Andr's Jackson

My name is Andr’e Lamarr Jackson: I’m currently serving a sentences of 27 years to life in prison for a non-violent offense of felon in possession of a firearm.

I, like other incarcerated, consider myself to be victim of the unfairness of the current 3 strike law. I would just like to say: prior to my incarceration, and sentence of 27 years to life I was a supportive, loving and caring father and husband. I was gainfully employed by coca cola bottling co. I was a productive tax paying citizen-just like yourself, and so many others. I love and miss my love ones dearly, and in turn, I am well loved and missed by my family and friends alike.

Being sentence under the 3 strikes law has been devastating for myself as well as my family and friends, whom I am very grateful to for their continuous support of me, thought these trying and times, I’m forced to endure.

It was a great shock to my 4 children to have their father suddenly striped from their lives and to be left alone, with only a mother. This whole ordeal has had a tremendous affect on my children: mentally and emotionally: Daddy, when are you coming home is the question that haunts me.

Even from behind prison walls I continue to and always will focus on the love , family tie and productivity of my love ones. My endeavors to assist my wife with raising our children, from prison, has been challenging, yet very much worth the effort.

My wife , God Bless her heart, is under a great deal of stress: financially, mentally and emotionally: nonetheless, she’s been very supportive and understanding. I believe that without my wife’s love, I would of given up all hope. She’s always been there for me, and she’ll continuous to be there for me, being the supportive , loving wife-that she is-no matter what. I must admit that my wife’s will to keep our family together though inner strength, faith and love, has been a Godsend; I know that my incarceration coupled with her having to be mother and take on the roll as sub father to our children ( in my absence) as well as maintain a positive attitude and productive household, has been a great deal of responsibility for a sing household parent to endure. She’s been wonderful through it all.

My current offence and third strike is ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

Ex-felon in possession of a firearm is a non-violent offense, which is punishable by law and imprisonment of 16 months, 2 years or 3 years. Not 27 years to life.

PLEASE, I appeal to you to support the amendment of the current 3 strike law. Not everyone deserves to be inprisoned for life, Not everyone!
