3-Strike Story: T. Harris

I am a third striker. I was convicted of breaking into a car and stealing the jack that you use to change a flat tire. I received thirty years to life. My prior strike convictions were back in 1985. I’m -- years of age, black male. Father of 3 beautiful children and I have an elderly mother who needs me as well, especially with me being the only child she has. I pray to got on a daily basis that he will send me home to my family. I’ve kept a lot of bad company over the years and allowed myself to be mislead and easily influenced as well as having made a lot of bad choices, but now I know that the mistakes we make in life aren’t more important than the lessons that we learn from them, I’m just disappointed that it tool me this long to learn these lessons but I’m still blessed and being here under these circumstances has allowed me to get in touch with myself and my heavenly Father and he has given me the strength to retake control of my life and carry on and has opened my mind and sprit it up to realize what is most important to me in my life. If they were to let me out right this minute they would never have to worry about me coming back to prison or breaking any laws, anyway I must say , it is truly a blessing to know that you guys are fighting for us and to know that we are not alone. I will carry you guys in my heart and prayers from this point on..

I received my appeal today and they dropped on of my strikes for insufficient evidence and remanded me back to court under the U.S. Supreme court decision (Angle Jaime Monge) to allow the D.A. and 2nd chance to prove this strike, so I’ll be back in court in a month or so.
